This corset was made for the character of Miranda for a 2011 theatrical production of The Tempest. The production, from Squeaky Door Production Company, will be set in 1860-70. the corset design is inspired by corsets, particularly for young wearers, from 1850-60. The corset will be part of a collection of items the protagonists were able to take with them to the island to which they were banished 14 years previous. The corset is designed for an imaginary girl of about 12 but will now be broken down, cut into and adjusted as Miranda has adapted it to suit her life on the island and her growing body.
