I designed and made this costume for one of Oberon's fairies in a steam punk version of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. The cropped velvet jacket has channels in the back, into which, the frame of the wire wings is inserted. The wings were made from piano wire then painted a glossy green. Each half is inserted separately to allow the wings to move more naturally. The dress is boned and laces up at the back.
