This dress was my second project in my first year at Colleg Morgannwg. Each student was given a different king or queen so that the finished costumes could be lined up to form a timeline of royal dress from Henry VIII to Queen Victoria I. I was given Queen victoria and chose this painting as my inspiration for this dress. All of the costume were made in calico with minimal decoration so that the focus would be on the shape and structure.
This costume consists on a corset, crinoline, skirt and bodice all of which I made myself including making an original pattern for the bodice and adapting original victorian patterns for the corset and crinoline.
